Barbet puppy plans

Snoopdogg will be having a litter this year, and I will post a photo later of her chosen  man with some more details. She is definitely ready for this new chapter in her life, and she has been a wonderful girl taking our two new pups under her wing.

Novaforesta Jools Holland at 4 weeks

Novaforesta Jools Holland, (red Collar) he is a very dark brown boy , and the most cautious still out of all the males, so a bit safer to hang out with the girls or go and explore when everyone else is fast asleep.

Barbet puppies have arrived, Novaforesta J litter

Welcome to the world, 11 beautiful Barbet puppies born on the 25th November.
The proud parents are  Charamese Hermione (Hallie) and Cooper du PrĂ© de Redy.
The pups are very strong and healthy, and all very good weights and quite amazing that Hallie managed to keep them till Day 60.
We have 7 girls 5 brown and 2 black and 4 boys, 3 brown and 1 black.

The webcam is up and running although it is misbehaving and cannot be viewed on internet explorer:
If it doesn't work the first time do keep trying as it does seem to have random blips

Barbet Puppy plans

Cooper du Pre de Redy
Charamese Hermione ( Hallie)

This will be my next Novaforesta litter later this year.

Cooper is a beautiful brown boy from Germany who is about 58 in height, so a perfect size for a male and has A hips and a 0/0 elbow score. He has passed his character tests in Switzerland.

Hallie as I am sure you know is  not only beautiful in looks and character, but has A hips and a 0/0 elbow score and her height is about 56 (hard to measure as she has so much coat at the moment) and she weighs about 20kg

A  lovely combination to take the Barbet forward in the UK with some new blood.

Cooper and Hallie proposed pedigree

My puppy waiting list has resumed its pace :)

Rugby the Barbet

If you look carefully you will see a hand holding Rugby, he is a rather lively boy and my camera just doesn't have a good shutter speed!. So a good photo of his nose to start, taking him to get confirmed could be quite a weekend as one can imagine how fast he will go round a ring.....He is a lovely charactor which is what is important.

Ralph the Barbet puppy at 11 months

Lovely photo of Ralph at 11 months old.
Bepop and Jedi certainly produced some boys who like to pose. Nice place to walk a Barbet, it has everything. How lucky am I to have found such wonderful owners.

Barbet dogs in the UK

Although I have far too many emails to read and phone calls to make, as I am still catching up after 8 weeks of puppies, I just felt the need to have a Barbet dog count.
This could be wrong, as not everyone will be in contact with the Barbet Club but at least these are the Barbets we know about.

We have 6 imported Barbets, 1 from France, 2 from Poland, 2 from Holland and 1 from Canada.
10 pups from Betsy
16 pups from Bepop.
9 pups from Ebene
12 pups from Dora

So we have at least 53 Barbets now living in the UK.

If you read this and you live in the UK and own a Barbet that has different parentage than the above then please get in touch so we can count you in as it would be good to have accurate numbers.

At my last count Betsy has 35 grandchildren,
Effie 8 puppies
Eton 27 puppies

Bepop has 30 grandchildren
Ooli (Dudley) 13 puppies
Dora 14 puppies
Duplo 3 puppies.

The next generation of breeding with Claude, Hallie, Martha and Hector will be very exciting for me, so far the health reports have been excellant, as Claude,Hallie and Hector all have A hips and you can't get better than that, Martha will have her hips scored at 12 months so fingers crossed and then just eye testing results to come.

Bepop the Barbet and puppies

Three weeks to go, and although she is slowing down on her forest walks she is still leaping gates!!! and still jumping up when I come home......naughty Bepop. She is at the manic ''Feed me'' stage though and her life is revolving around meal times. Anyway not long to wait now.

say hello to Deejee

It is always good to hear about youngsters and their health reports. This boy Deejee (all being well) will in 2013 be adding to the UK Barbet population........apologies to Caya as his wife Bepop is going to be unfaithful. Official news soon to be released, but with A hips everything is looking positive for a good combination.

Hallie and Bobby

I have already mentioned that these two dogs are now the best of friends but they spend the whole time trying to share small bits of paper, if you click on the photo you can just see the glimpse of green paper in Hallies' mouth!

grandma Bepop

Bepop does not take this role of Grandma very seriously, we are waiting to hear whether she will have more grandchildren, only a couple more days to go.

Hallie and her Dad, Eton the brave!

At long last, Hallie met her Dad and she loved him. It wasn't love at first sight as Eton was a bit too playful and she was a little scared but after a couple of hours of grooming she saw him in a different light and the roles were reversed and Eton was looking slightly harassed by a very playful daughter.

Eye test results

Whoops I am a bit late with our updates, my excuse being two little black herberts that have been staying at our house for 3 weeks. So now they are back with their doggy family I can start catching up with news.
As expected Ebene and Novaforesta Dudley (Ooli) both have had clear eye certificates issued by the one and only Ian Mason ( BVA Eye Scheme Chief Panellist).
If you see a eye certificate for a barbet it will be normal to read under descriptive comments, the words no ocular disease or similar wording. This is due to the fact that as the breed is not known in the UK, the BVA specialists normally just check the eyes, but as a breed club we request from breeders just that little bit more and ask for checks on the eyelids and eyelashes.
Next on the list will be Betsy and Bepop, another job to add to my growing list of things to do.
