Barbets meet and greet

Charamese Hermione (Hallie) and Charamese Hector, with Bonnie in the foreground. Brother and sister were so happy to see each other yesterday that it was hard to capture with a photo!. A big day yesterday as they were both having their hips and elbows graded, so we await the results.

Bepop

Well I am getting cross with my photos as whatever I do they are going on the blog the wrong way round, but life is too short and too sunny to be cross for long. Bepop out in the garden enjoying the sunshine

Barbets and cuddles

I think blue collar boy is going to be a dog who likes his cuddles.

Barbet puppies 1 week old

Black boy with white stripe
Little girl

Brown male with green collar

Brown male with purple collar

Big male with red collar

Black male already sporting debris!

Brown male with blue collar

i have to admit that 7 puppies is a lovely number, a lucky number and fantastic for Bepop to raise. The pups are very contented, although red collar boy is taking advantage of his size and he makes sure that he never has hunger pains!. They have easily doubled their birth weight, and we are on countdown for their eyes to open. I will post a photo of my viewing seat, you can't see it on the webcam but it is where I spend most of my time watching the pups, everyday they get stronger and everyday they make different sounds. Bepop makes a wonderful noise when one puppy is away from the rest, it is an identical sound to the noise Bobby makes when he sees another dog out walking that he cannot reach, so it has to be a calling communication, odd though as puppies are deaf at this age.

Barbet Bepop Mum to be

Bepop is expanding rather quickly and tonight we felt the puppies kicking, a magical moment for our family as this is when we start to panic! Bepop still has 15 days to go, it will go quickly as we are still decorating!

Barbet walk in the New Forest

Is that what I think it is?

Just a little push and he would have been in

Martha and Hallie looking for a dummy I think

The forest was so wet today, a good time for waterdogs
Thank you Kate Kingan for the photos, they are lovely

Novaforesta Diamond Black-a real Duckdog

No one must tell dear Bella that Donald is not a real duck as she is very proud to have retrieved this from a putting stick

Barbets are not boring dogs

This photo is for those of you lucky enough to own a Barbet with the most expressive Bepop in their dogs pedigree. Life is never boring with a dog like Bepop

Barbet Bepop is so quiet

This is not a normal position for Bepop, I threw some crumbs which Bobby and Martha hoovered up immediately and Bepop remained where she was......she is soooooo tired.
Bepop is the dog I know best, followed closely by Bobby, Martha I am still working on how her brain functions and Betsy seems to have her own rules which Julian understands better than I. Jazz will be 13 years old shortly, and since his eyesight and hearing have almost gone he has his own agenda and  does his own thing in his own time!!!!. So back to Bepop, she is needing cuddles and attention, she is definately feeling a little out of sorts. The cat watching is very half hearted, she just seems as though she cannot be bothered. She is not outrageously hungry, she eats everything still but no teeth chattering at meal times. Bepop weighed in 4 weeks ago at 30kg, but when you feel her she seems a bit boney so I am increasing her food as her undercarriage is already showing signs and we have over 5 weeks to go.

Bepop

Bepop with quite short hair in the garden today, the BIG question is.......Is she preggies?
She is rather quiet, and a little more soppy so I am feeling quite hopeful.
Another Novaforesta litter has been a long time coming, to say I am excited is an understatement and I have a wonderful waiting list of potential owners which adds to the excitement. Her scan will be in mid March, so not long to wait.

Martha meets her Uncle Eton

Martha was very happy to meet her fun loving Uncle today, I thought I would  get a photo before he was groomed as he has had a Spring trim now. Martha is starting to understand the routine as we have quite a few dogs visit and so she likes to play and then she sleeps in the grooming room whilst I work

Martha and Hallie

I really think that being a black dog with a brown father produces rather an attractive coat colour. Martha is on the right of the photo and Hallie on the left, both dogs look brown and yet Hallie is black. The girls had a good romp yesterday together, so they had a lovely walk

happy Christmas everyone

Dogs Rules for Xmas

Phew, back on my blog at last and so much news to share with so little time before Xmas as today I still have one more day at work. But thought I would start with the rules at Xmas for your much loved family dog. You may have to read this several times so it really sinks in especially the bit about Father Xmas.
