Happy 6th Birthday to the 'E' litter

Happy 6th Birthday to the 6 puppies born on the 30th November 2009 to Bacchus di Barbochos Reiau de Prouvenco and Betsy Bonheur de la Baie des Landes.
The puppies are celebrating their 6th Birthday on a very cold and windy day.but I am sure they will be treated with a lovely walk and plenty of cuddles

Happy 7th Birthday to the 'D' litter from Bepop x Caya

Be-Poppy x Caya de la Serve de la Chapelle d'Alexandre had 12 beautiful puppies on 29th November 2008.

These pups have now reached 7 years old and I hope they all had special Birthday treats

Updates to resume

I must apologise for my lack of updates but life at home has been an emotional turmoil.
Some of you may know that in the last 18 months I have lost both my parents who were very supportive over the challenges of importing my two lovely Barbet girls nearly 9 years ago, they were my dog sitters and my puppy minders and were always available to help when needed. The last couple of years however have been difficult as they both needed care themselves, but luckily they were almost my neighbours so I was able to take on that role which consequently meant less time on the PC tracking my puppy updates and keeping you all informed.
Hopefully over the next couple of weeks I will try and catch up and will be posting updates for you all.

Netis Jitterbug aka Pi

I had to share the show critique from the dog show we attended in Douai, France in June this year. However show results don't paint the whole picture of the dog and if Pi had a choice I think she would rather be in the forest.

Grooming a Barbet

I was really pleased to see 'Buddy' a very sweet boy from Hallie and Cooper who is now 8 months old. His owner is learning how to maintain the coat himself and making a very good job of it. Buddy is quite amazing to groom, he is very patient and extremely tolerant and to be honest, just delightful. The owner is using a cordless clipper with different attachments to keep the body short but even, and they worked well on a clean matt free coat......it is possible to have a smart short coat on a Barbet without them looking shaved. Buddy is a credit to his owner.

Novaforesta Lady Fern

Can you believe that she is nearly 5 months old already and weighing in at 13.8Kg.

TAN success in France

Novaforesta Janis Joplin aka Nell

Nell who swam out to the yellow buoy in her keenness to prove she is a waterdog
A group photo of the dogs that passed the TAN with Monsieur Goubie

Two British Barbets passed the Tan in France in June 2015, Novaforesta Janis Joplin (Nell)and Netis Jitterbug (Pi), this is a basic test to show that the dogs are able to swim at least 5 metres and retrieve a dummy or toy, the dogs must show they are sociable amongst other dogs of the same sex and they must not be startled by gunfire. The lake was very near the dog show, and as it was a hot day the dogs were very keen to get swimming. The only downside was that Pi missed her chance to go in the big ring to compete against the other breeds being represented as 'Best Junior'. I might add, not because she might have won, but as so few Barbets are shown in France it is an opportunity for people to see the breed in the spotlight even if it is for only a few minutes.

Novaforesta Lady Fern at her first dog show in France

What a clever girl she was on both days in France, she won best puppy and got to go in the big ring twice........she was the only entry both days BUT it was very good practice for her, and lovely for us to spend 2 long days with her in a very busy, noisy environment.

Netis Jitterbug known as Pi passes her health checks and confirmation

As you can imagine I am very pleased that Pi has passed her health checks for breeding.

Her hips have been scored with a result of 4 :4 and her elbows scored with a 0 :0  result.

She has passed her eye test so has a clear eye certificate dated June 2015.

This lovely girl with her beautiful markings has just been to France to be confirmed, we attended a 2 day show in Douai and on the first day we were lucky to be judged by the very knowledgeable Monsieur Dupas who placed Pi as Best Junior.

Pi enjoying the limelight.

On the same day Pi was able to take the TAN  ( water retrieve/sociability test) with several other Barbets, once again we were lucky as Monsieur Goubie another expert judge was overseeing the test and I am pleased to say. Pi passed with flying colours.
The last couple of months have been a social whirl for Pi, she had the joy of playing with the pups from Martha and Ooli, The London Pet show, Hips, elbows and eyes done, a weekend in France at the show, and a working test........after all her engagements she then had her hair cut which you can see in the photo at the top of the page.
The details for her 'husband to be' will be published shortly,

Beautiful Barbet puppy Pepsi

She is a long way from home, but I am lucky to have regular updates, Pepsi is Lily of the Valley, a pup from Martha and Ooli. She had a lot of admirers when she was with me, and photos like this you can understand why.

Novaforesta Laural Oak

My new puppy owners are putting me to shame as they are all attending training classes and I haven't been able to with Lady Fern yet as the classes are full. Archie in the photo above is doing very well, a very handsome boy at 12 weeks

Novaforesta Lenten Rose

This is Lottie at 12 weeks old who won 1st prize at a recent local dog show held at a May day event. She is also being a very good girl at training, although that look in the photos tells me she has her naughty moments

Caya, a Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather

This lovely boy is called Caya, and is in the background of many Barbets around the world now.

This is how it all started, and actually we have a few more litters to add :) as Novaforesta Duplo has sired a beautiful litter in Holland with Distel ( Novaforesta Eton xLaulava Toutes T'adorent), and of course Martha and Ooli, and not forgetting that 2 more of Oolis' children have reproduced one as far as America.

Lady Fern at 9 weeks

Apologies as I know I missed out the 8 week photo of Lady Fern but I was exhausted after a slight hiccup with paperwork for one of the pups who was to be going abroad. Well she did make it, but it was a very stressful day!. My husband has taken it quite well that I couldn't find the right home for Lady Fern! otherwise known as 'Florrie' but she does still have a name change most days.

Novaforesta Livingstone Daisy at 8 weeks

Livingstone Daisy soon to be known as Livvy, this little girl is the firm favorite of my future son in law, luckily I have a large enough family that they all pick a puppy that just gets that extra cuddle when they come round and it really shows how the pups start to respond to a voice they know and like. A litter of pups is a very special time, and I get to keep Livvy for another 24 hours :)

Novaforesta Lily of the Valley at 8 weeks

Lily of the Valley soon to be known as Pepsi. She was by far the worse for biting the back of your leg but luckily this last week we have nipped it in the bud, we have a low growl that must be perfection as she has responded well. This little sweetie will be having quite an exciting day on Sunday when she leaves our nest.

Novaforesta Laurel Oak at 8 weeks

The only boy in the litter so no surprise he is a firm favorite with my daughter. This boy has so many different 'looks'  so I thought I would share just one of them. Typical boy, he was the biggest yeller at the vets today, bless him

Novaforesta Lenten Rose at 8 weeks

Lovely Lottie, another girl we will be saying farewell to tomorrow and pleased to say very well behaved at the vets for her very through check up, thumbs up to cedar vets in Ringwood today.
I am sure you can understand after 8 weeks with this hairy gang I will miss them so much as they have been a very happy go lucky litter.

Novaforesta Lydia Broom at 8 weeks old

The very cheeky girl now called Tove, she was a little fed up in the top photo as has had her first injection and microchip at the vets today. She was very well behaved throughout, but the visit did exhaust her. I will miss this little girl, she was the puppy that loved to roll with Pi,

Novaforesta Livingstone Daisy at 7 weeks

Livingstone Daisy soon to be known as Livvy and is the smallest girl at the moment, but she wins first prize for making more effort than the others to wee on the paper/puppy pad. She is a bit of a clown, and now nearly trips me up as she has learnt to sit for a treat although this does mean taking photos of her is easy

Novaforesta Lenten Rose at 7 weeks old

Lenten  Rose soon to be called Lottie, she always wants what she can't quite reach!, she is fun and has been very responsive about not biting hands, she is however quite a digger in the garden but allowing the pups on the mud does mean that they are less likely to eat stones and earth when they go to their new homes, well I hope it does :).

Novaforesta Lady Fern at 7 weeks

Lady Fern is one of the larger girls, she has her moments of madness like the others and really is just one of the gang. She normally sleeps with Lily by the gate waiting for the rugby scrum moment when I unlatch it.All the puppies now just want to be with us, if we are quiet then they sleep, if we talk or move they are awake and yelling. This litter have always seemed a week ahead, so they will be more than ready to join their new families next week and to start exploring the big wide world.  ,
