World dog show Paris 2011, the results

54 Barbets , although a few didn't show on the day, still for the breed a fantastic turnout.
The breed was not in the ring until the afternoon, so we arrived a little later than the previous day after picking up a couple of hitchhikers! and then spent most of the morning in a queue at the vets office to have our dog`s passports stamped for their return to the UK the next day. I have to admit it was a frustrating wait, but we were in France, and it`s probably an advantage that I don't understand the language well enough to rant or make demands.
The results are shown below, a French judge this time, one that has judged Betsy and Bepop before and liked them. Although (Novaforesta Dora) Bonnie got an excellent, she was not shortlisted for the final 6 dogs which I was disappointed in, having seen the judge giving her a good look, he had definately liked Bonnie, but that is dog shows for you.I am very biased, but there were a few barbets that I would have loved to bring home.

              Odo (Novaforesta Denzil) was graded `excellent`, Ebene also got an excellent and won her class, although she was the only entry!.
I spoke to as many people as I could, but its always difficult by the ringside as when your breed is being judged you are watching the dogs, and when it is over, the next breed and all their owners are waiting, and so its time to move on.

1er, 2e, 3e  indicates 1st, 2nd and 3rd followed by the dogs grading...excellent, very good etc.

I am still only on Thursday, the World Dog show was on the Friday.

We are back from our French travels and I am catching up with work and family life.

We left on Wednesday morning, and arrived at our campsite in France, 13 hours later, we did have a rather strange journey as we had not anticipated driving past the Eiffel Tower, but it was a nice surprise in someways. We had Ebene, the Canadian dog with us, who travelled without complaint and seemed very relaxed about the camping experience, she was certainly very happy to be allowed to sleep on the bed in the camper van.

The French show was on Thursday for the Barbet, the carpark arrangements were chaotic to put it mildly, Six lanes of traffic, going into two lanes, coaches,campervans, trailers, the world and his wife were trying to park, and to think we paid 10 euros for that madness!

The judge was Italian, and these are the results for the barbets living in the UK:

It was very rewarding to see so many barbets, the judge was keen on how the dogs moved, and I was especially pleased that Bonnie was placed, she had quite a short coat compared to others, but as she is a curly dog regardless of length of coat and she moves very nicely, the judge liked her, I am of course very biased. Denzil moved well, but his coat although curly was too profuse. Ebene moves beautifully, and is a Canadian champion already, but her coat was not as good as it could have been, maybe hormones as she had just been in season or even a reaction to 'frontline' but she was still graded excellent.
