A week of brown barbets

Novaforesta Dempsey, another one of my favorite boys.
I cannot believe that next month Betsys' first litter will be 4 years old.
Identical in height and weight to Eton, they just have different fathers.
They look alike as their Fathers were brothers.

Happy 6th Birthday Betsy

A very Happy Birthday to Betsy Bonheur, born 6 years ago in France.

A proud mother of 13 pups.

She was the first female barbet to be imported into the UK in 2007, seems such a long time ago now.

As Bepop was out all day yesterday, it was Betsys' turn out in the forest.
Are they all ball obsessed?
Absolutely other than the terrier who was busy sniffing somewhere.

Happy Birthday to Betsys' beautiful pups

Betsys' 'E' litter are 2 years old today.

One of these pups just has to be Eton , he was a record breaker as he weighed 530 at birth, so I believe thats the heaviest barbet ever born.

The whole gang with Betsy watching over them. Eating is a pups pleasure, eating outside in the snow is survival training or is it socialisation with the elements.

Another working barbet Novaforesta Delyssa

Wonderful news, Novaforesta Delyssa aka Nenu a pup from Betsys' first litter is now going to be picking up on a shoot this season.
The barbet may be small in numbers, but that now means 3 barbets on regular shoots, possibly 4 if you count Hector in Yorkshire.

Betsy with short hair.

Finally at the age of 5 years, Betsy has had a short haircut.
She is 58/59 in height and weighs at the moment 29k, I have cut her to about an inch all over, including her head.
She is a very strong dog, extremely fit and rather heavy to be a lapdog or to be carried anywhere!

Betsy and Dolly

Novaforesta Dolly and Betsy Bonheur

Lovely day out on Sunday, Dolly and Betsy did some tracking work and both did very well. A full write up is on the GB Club site, anyway the walk wasn't just work it was fun for the dogs to spend time together. Dolly is Betsys first daughter and she is now 3 years old and is a very sweet calm dog used for pet therapy work.
